About Maurice McBride

Maryland based photographer, Maurice McBride, has been gradually ascending in portrait photography since 2014. As he struggled with self identity/self esteem plagued him during his college years, Maurice found a passion for shooting portraits and making his subjects feel confident about themselves. He embarked on a journey to understand the emotional trauma he endured in 2017 from a bad relationship. During Maurice’s senior year in college he learned studio photography under a master photographer in a internship. Applying  newly found skills with studio lighting, his new resolve was to help black men like himself find a healthy outlet to speak about the emotional problems they were facing. His use of strong shadows and an eye for detail help capture the pain and stress black men deal with on a daily basis mentally as well as emotionally.
